Is there such a thing as too much information?

Fast FoodSo I see the Government is keen that fast food outlets provide a breakdown of what is in their food?  I really do think that this is a great idea. From a vegetarian point of view it has always been tricky enough eating in some food establishments but on top of this trying to diet or eat healthily… well that can be tough!

I think it would benefit everyone to see exactly what they are consuming.  I suspect it could be quite shocking, though!  But can too much information be a bad thing?

In my opinion, no.  For those of us who like to know what goes into our food, that information is power.  For those who aren’t interested, well, that’s their choice.

There are some excellent websites out there which list the ingredients in food and drink. My favourite of these is of interest not just to vegetarians but to those of us who like to know that our food is organic/free from/ethically sourced and more. It concerns major supermarket own brands.  Specific brands can be found on their manufacturers website.  Have a look here.

If you’re a confirmed veggie or if you just like to know where your food comes from, these lists, amongst other things, will help to reassure you that what you’re eating and drinking, you can enjoy with a clear conscience.

I think it is very important to be able to read what is in our foods. I have always read the labels on products, even before i became Vegetarian or health concious :-)

I just simply want to know exactly what i am buying :-)

Yes, but it is even trickier as a vegan. You can’t even buy things that are ‘meat free’ from the supermarket, such as Quorn!
