When is it officially too late to be making new years resolutions? I’m not entirely sure but I can tell you that my nearest and dearest are still “resolving” for most of January. So with ‘old family tradition’ to back me up in this final week of January 2010, my new year’s resolution is to gather the familial troops and walk a whole lot more. Even if we go for one walk this year we’ll have increased our walk rate by more than 100%! Well, I refuse to be such a sad statistic so I’m going to aim for a very reasonable two family walks a month. And there’s nothing like a bit of exercise to stimulate appetites for a home-cooked meal on return – and you can be sure some recipe inspiration follows shortly dear readers! MORE

If you’re reading this after Christmas whilst you await the New Year then welcome to Week 52 of 2009. Cleaning, visiting relatives, thinking up ever inventive ways to use up the turkey leftovers, hitting the sales - what do you do in week 52?
It is official … Santa Claus loves Quorn
My Christmas Day with Quorn is fortunately not a solitary one, my husband and I are vegetarian and my mum will go along with whatever we take to cook at her place. But it’s supposed to be a treat for everyone, so I make sure I’ve got a traditional meat eater’s Christmas dinner ‘with all the trimmings’ (if someone else cooks it). At 84 she’s not going to change, and she enjoys it. So that’s the easy bit. We’ve been vegetarian for nearly 40 years, and the Christmas catering is always a challenge even though there’s only just the two of us.
Well, I don’t know about you but I’d say the festive rush is truly upon us … as everything gets more hectic, the pressure builds up on our time and our purse strings!
Christmas is creeping up quickly and the team at Quorn are really getting into the party spirit. Next time you’re browsing the supermarket aisles, keep your eyes peeled for our new festive packaging. To celebrate Christmas this year, Quorn has released a new range of festively-dressed party snacks, from goujons and satay skewers to mini picnic eggs and sausage rolls.
